has more of a chemical smell than a leather smell AND there is a crease that appears to have been caused by the packaging or the way it was IN the packaging.. only time will tell if that crease will 'settle' out or the real smell of leather will come out.. for now i have the hide on a flat surface.. not planning to return it, in fact i might ask if a similar hide is available but thinner..EDIT, the slight chemical smell has left after letting the leather hide air out in the garage for a few days.. the crease also seems to be filling in..
